How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you become an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach?

To answer this question, it’s probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and a resulting “compelling story,” that brought me to where I am today – coaching people like you who are struggling with food and body image. That defining moment in my life happened in 2010.

At the time, I owned a successful business as an importer. During this time, an eating disorder showed up at my family door. My 12 year-old daughter was struggling with her weight and body image. She was suffering in silence for one or two years before being diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa.

The first treatment approach recommended by her therapist was The Maudsley approach, a family-based treatment that required me to feed my daughter at home every 3 hours to restore her weight. I had no hesitation to stay home and help my daughter recover, however the business suffered from my absence. I restructured the business operations, but eventually had to close. After seven months of trying this treatment approach my daughter’s health deteriorated and she had to leave for in-patient residential treatment. The eating disorder took away my daughter’s health, our family’s harmony, our business and every ounce of joy. I knew that after residential treatment I had to be physically available to take her to doctor’s appointments to continue her path into recovery. In order to do this, I needed a more flexible career, therefore I became a real estate agent. Becoming a Realtor allowed me to have my own schedule and be present for my daughter.

Deep in my soul, I felt that something was missing in my daughter’s treatment. Her weight was being restored, her psychological issues were being attended, but the root cause or causes of why she developed an eating disorder were never addressed. Eating Disorder is a complex disease that affects the entire family system. As a parent and caregiver, I didn’t receive any support or coping strategies to deal with the situation. This uncertainty and unease led me to continue searching and seeking alternatives until I discovered a holistic approach which allowed me to begin the healing process of our broken hearts. I’ve been in this healing and spiritual path for seven years, studying different healing modalities and applying what I’ve learned to my own recovery and that of my family.

Even though we had come a long way as a family overcoming many challenges and restoring our health and faith, the eating disorder came back five years later, but this time affecting my other child. My other daughter was diagnosed with a Binge Disorder. Thanks to the healing work that I had already begun I was in a very good place emotionally, psychologically and physically to be able to effectively help and support my daughter into recovery. It was at this moment that I decided to become a Life Coach and an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach. Eating Disorders affect the entire family, not only the person suffering the disease. Everyone is left broken in a state of despair and hopelessness not knowing what to do or how to act.

I know the pain, guilt, shame, confusion, loneliness, and anger that people go through because I’ve been there, I understand. Healing myself and helping my daughters in their recovery has made me passionate about helping others affected by this terrible disease. I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my life to helping others who are struggling with food and body image and their families heal in a holistic and powerful way from the damage caused by an eating disorder.

Since then, I have been living my dream of being happy, fulfilled and empowered by helping others restore their well-being and that of their families. I have created a 90-day coaching program called 90 DAYS TO BREAK-FREE™, a Self-Healing and Transformational Coaching Program consisting of a series of 11 calls over a period of 3 months that everyone who’s struggling with food and body image needs to apply to transform their lives from hopelessness to empowerment and become the best version of themselves.

Who are your clients?

I work with people just like you who have an unhealthy relationship with food and a difficult time accepting their bodies, but have fair to good motivation to transform their lives and break free from their struggles with food once and for all.

I also work with parents and caregivers of those struggling with disordered eating who feel broken, guilty, angry, tired, overwhelmed, hopeless, and don’t know how to effectively support their loved ones.

Being a mother of a child with an eating disorder, I’m known to work best with people who are committed to their transformation no matter what, who are super-ready to get going and just want to know exactly what steps to take to transform their relationship with food. My clients often tell me – “just tell me what to do and I’ll do it!” You’ll learn everything you need to know to heal your pain and become the best version of yourself. You will be expected to take serious and consistent action. It is my dominant intent to help, guide, and support as many people as possible. My treatment approach is holistic in nature, therefore I believe we’re all whole human beings with our flaws and imperfections. You’re NOT broken. What exactly is 90 DAYS TO BREAK-FREE™ program and what does it include?

I have created a 90-day coaching program called 90 DAYS TO BREAK-FREE. It’s a holistic, self-healing, and transformational coaching program that will teach you specific skills and coping strategies to help you transform your life from pain into forgiveness, hatred into love, anger into peace, doubt into faith, despair into hope. By healing your emotional wounds and working deep into your heart’s and soul’s desire you’ll make peace with food. A healthy weight will be a natural outcome of your emotional healing recovery. This program is based on Dr. Dorie’s McCubbrey, MSEd, PhD, LPC, CEDS treatment approach called Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy EDIT™.

Here’s what the Program gets you to do:


WEEK 1: AWARENESS

During this call I’ll guide you to become aware of where you are in the emotional scale and the patterns of thoughts that you’re currently having. Our thoughts create our emotions, therefore becoming aware of your thoughts is the first step of transformation. We’ll also work on identifying your core beliefs and those limiting beliefs that aren’t serving you anymore and are holding you back from reaching your goals.

WEEK 2: ACCEPTANCE & RESPONSIBILITY

We’ll work on recognizing your values, credo or guiding principles of how you want your life to look and the meaning of your current experiences. Accepting your experiences and challenges is a necessary step to take responsibility and move forward in your recovery. As complex, difficult, and painful this journey may be, it’s very important to accept your current circumstances. It’s not your fault.

WEEK 3: TAKING YOU POWER BACK

Self-blame and blaming others keep us stuck in a negative state of mind and prevents us from effectively recovering. We’ll work on transforming blame into forgiveness. You’ll learn a set of coping skills to act instead of reacting to the urges. You’ll increase your confidence level and effectively create and implement a new set of healthy boundaries.

WEEK 4: SELF-COMPASSION AND IMPROVE BODY IMAGE

You’ll learn specific strategies to develop self-compassion and improve your body image. Step by step you’ll discover how to love your body and find a Soul-Heart-Mind-Body balance.

WEEK 5: BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF

You’ll learn to trust yourself and your intuition. When you feel doubt about your decisions and abilities, the disordered eating recognizes that and takes advantage of you. You’ll learn how to lower the volume of the critical voice and raise the volume of your true self. You’ll start trusting your inner voice and use it as your guidance system.

BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF.

WEEK 6: INTUITIVE AND MINDFUL EATING

You’ll learn to apply your intuitive abilities when you eat. You’ll learn specific tools to listen to your body and what your body truly needs. Maintaining a well nourished and healthy body is essential to successful recovery.

WEEK 7: THE CREATIVE YOU

We’ll safely explore and resolve the core issues that are keeping you stuck and/or paralyzed, preventing you from freely expressing yourself. You’ll tap into your creativity and learn healthy strategies and how to set healthy boundaries with others which will allow you to stop walking on eggshells without feeling shame or guilt.

WEEK 8: SELF CARE

We’ll go over the importance of self care and how to implement Holistic self care morning and evening routines. You’ll create an emergency self care kit that works for you.

WEEK 9: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

You’ll learn a set of skills for strengthening your self-esteem and trust in yourself and the recovery process. You’ll embrace hope with a new sense of confidence, strength, and power. Believing in yourself is essential for a sustainable recovery.
